It May Be Called New Age Healing But It Is Mostly Old New age healing is an umbrella term that includes a number of different healing paths that aren’t new at all. Indeed, many of them are literally thousands of years old.
Some new things may occasionally be placed in this category, but not that much. Cold laser therapy would be an example. It has been in the United States for a few years, although in Europe, it has been getting rave reviews since the 1970s.
The place to find cold laser technology in the U. S. Is at your chiropractor’s place of business. The field of chiropractic fits very nicely as a member of the new age healing group. It may be well over 100 years old, but it is one of the younger methods.
Acupuncture is the quintessential example of a new age healing modality. It dates back to, at least, over two thousand years, and according to some scholars, five times that long. Massage therapy is another great example. There are ancient medical text references to massage that are four thousand years old.
Meditation would be yet another example. This dates back thousands of years. It is not tied to any particular religion. Like massage therapy or other modalities, Christians and atheists, Muslims and Jews, etc., all engage in it. Something that is relatively young is homeopathy. It originated 220 years ago.
These modalities have a number of things in common, even though they are quite divergent. First and foremost, they do not use addicting, debilitating, life threatening drugs. There are not any side effect, or overdoses.
All of these systems take a holistic perspective. They view people in the large picture frame, instead of as independent tiny parts, under a microscope.
They are not based on the concept of needing to do battle with anything in the environment, like germs or bacteria. They share an understanding of the natural power of human immune system that has the ability to keep people in perfect health, as long as it is maintained.
There is an intrinsic realization of an underlying natural healing force, and each one of these healing methods tries to work in conjunction with that force to help the person achieve their natural state of health. They often work at the level of energy. For instance, the cold laser technology reduces pain and stimulates healing by spreading light into the body, not unlike the healing effect of sunlight.
Acupuncture deals with the meridians. They are the energy pathways that the human body functions with. If there are blockages of energy in the meridians, that is when illnesses begin. The needles have the effect of breaking up the blockages. The western medical establishment snickered when they first heard of this practice, but the laugh was on them, because so much of what acupuncturists do, has been proven effective.
Where do people turn when medicine can’t help stop their migraines? Millions have found what they needed in the form of meditation. Massage therapy has been shown to be more effective in dealing with depression than drugs. It does not matter which new age healing method you are looking at, even going as far as psychic readings: they all have at least 2 amazing benefits. The first is they do whatever they do. They second one, is they keep people from turning to drugs, and that puts a dent in side effects, addictions, overdoses, death and surgeries.
